George Foreman has expanded their range of products over the years and a simple search yields over 50 different product SKUs and that is a lot to look through. We have done the work and here, we will look at the best of them and save you the effort of doing it yourself.

Basic Grills

The George Foreman basic grill series provides a no-frills experience to grilling. It is made for those who just wants a simple addition to their kitchen and want nothing of the bells and whistle. Making cooking fast and easy.

Best George Foreman Basic Grills

Basic Grill #1. George Foreman GR0040B 2-Serving Classic Plate Grill

The grill that makes the brand known to the world. Do not underestimate this small machine, it can deliver excellent steaks, burgers, and veggies to your plate in a jiffy.

This small grill can fit snugly on your tabletop and is a life-saver for those who have limited countertop space. Although the name suggests that it can grill up to 2 persons worth, we are more inclined to believe that it can only serve up to 1 person worth of food at any one time.

Storage is a snap with the integrated cord wrap. This allows you to store the grill vertically to fit into tight spaces. This model doesn’t allow you to control the temperature and there is only one temperature setting at 350F. You will know when the grill is at that temperature with the indicator lights.

Hates food sticking to the grill? This George Foreman grill has a non-stick coat to make sure after-cleaning to be relatively easy. Those food bits belong to your stomach, not the grill. The sloped grill design is made to remove the grease from cooking the meat, making it healthier.

Basic Grill #2: George Foreman GR144 9-Serving Classic Plate Electric Grill and Panini Press

If you like the previous grill but had hoped that it will be bigger, then consider this model. This George Foreman classic comes with 133 square inches of grilling surface lets you make up to 3 servings at a time. We are aware that the name puts it squarely at 9 servings, but we believe it should be more of a 3, or a 4 if you stretch it a little.

One consistent feature of George Foreman that we like is the non-stick coating. There is a lot to love about this nonstick coating; it is durable, easy to clean, and removes the need for butter and oil. Although, adding some butter enhances the food way more. It is an option though.

The slope design that touts to remove up to 42% of fat is here to stay too. The grease and fat resulting from cooking the meat will not pool around the meat and will be drained via the slope to the drip tray.

And on the drip tray, it is dishwasher safe and collects a neat amount of fat and grease before you will have to clean it. To use the grill, close the lid and plug cord into an outlet. Allow the grill to preheat for 5-8 minutes before using it. There is no on/off switch, to off the machine, you will have to unplug it from the socket.

Then how would you know when it is ready? The indicator lights on the top of the grill let you know when it’s plugged in and when it’s ready to cook.

However, some food is best cooked on an even surface, it is good and great for oil to slip down to the tray, but I do not want my peas to do that. So, for that, you can use the adjustable floating hinge to make it flat.

Advanced Grills

If you are looking for an upgraded version of the basic version, then you can consider these. The advanced grills have all the coveted features in the basic grills and added ease of cleaning to it with its removable plates. So, for folks who dislike cleaning like me, these are made for you.

Best George Foreman Advanced Grills

Advanced Grill #1: George Foreman GRP1060B 4-Serving Removable Plate Grill and Panini Press

First up, this is the smaller version of the advanced grill. Capable only of serving one portion of food at any one point in time. Stretch it a little and it could probably accommodate 2. What makes it different from the basics is the ability to actually remove the plates for cleaning. After every grill, place them in the dishwasher and it is ready to go for your next meal.

Although a removable plate goes far beyond cleaning, we will introduce some creative ways to use it in the later part of the guide.

If you ever find yourself the need to cook thicker cuts of meat or you wanted to have meatballs to go along with the spaghetti you just made. The adjustable hinge can allow more vertical room to do just that.

This model has also 35% faster heat-up time compared to basic models. Less heating time means more time enjoying your food. However, for an advanced grill, you might be thinking that they will add an on / off switch, but they didn’t. To turn on and off the grill, you would have to plug or unplug the grill. It is not a deal breaker, just felt that they could just add that feature, some of us are not accustomed to it.

The non-stick coating is also improved from the basic model and it is now up to 3 times more durable. If you are not already aware, non-stick coat deteriorates with usage. Also, the machine surface gets hot on the outside so beware not to scald your hands.

Specifications At A Glance

  • The Product Dimensions: 13.4 x 12.2 x 6.5 inches. The cooking area measures 60 square inches. Recommended for 1 – 2 servings.
  • The Product Weight: 4 pounds
  • The Grill Temperature: Not Stated but We Estimate About 400 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Wattage: 1,150 Watts
  • Cord Length: 1.5 Feet

Advanced Grill #2: George Foreman GRP472P 5-Serving Removable Plate Grill and Panini Press

This is another advanced alternative to the model we introduced previously. The grill area of this model is 72 square inches, which translate to 2 servings of food at one point in time. It is possible to squeeze in a third serving if you place them closer together.

If you also think that the non-stick coating can be made better, this model ceramic coating is touted to be 5x more durable than the basic models. So, it is almost 1x better than the previous advanced model. Also, it is stain and fade resistant, and free of PTFE and PFOA.

The 1-inch adjustable hinge is here to stay, so thicker cuts and meatballs are still on the menu. One tip though, do flip your food every couple minute or so because the bottom tray is hotter than the bottom. And again, this model doesn’t have an on / off switch.

Specifications At A Glance

  • The Product Dimensions: 5.5 x 16.5 x 11.1 inches. The cooking area measures 72 square inches. Recommended for 2 servings.
  • The Product Weight: 8.5 pounds
  • The Grill Temperature: Not Stated But We Estimate About 500 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Wattage: 1,000 Watts

Premium Grills

For those who have outgrown basic grilling and wanted more features such as the ability to sear your meat, broiling and the ability to use multi-plates. Imagine that brownish texture after searing, you can do that too now.

Best George Foreman Premium Grills

Premium Grill #1: George Foreman GRP4842MB Multi-Plate Evolve Grill

If you are looking for more variety in your dishes. The 3 in 1 Evolve Grill system offers a range of cooking options. You can use the ceramic grill plates to make chicken, steak, burgers, or veggies then finish it with a panini or grilled sandwich.

Searing, that brown caramelized textured can be done with the seating burst button smack right in the middle. It is a high-heat burst that raises the temperature of the grill to 500 for 90 seconds to give you the sweet surface. After that, you finish the cooking by grilling it over normal heat at around 400F. All these temperature settings can be controlled via the arrow buttons at the front.

The Evolve grill comes with a digital control panel that displays the cooking time and temperature so you can finally have complete control over your recipe. No more guesswork here.

Like the advanced grill, the premium grill plates are covered with a multilayer, nonstick ceramic coating that simplifies cleanup and reduces the need for excess oil and butter. The plates are PTFE and PFOA free as well.

Removable plates are a given and the cool-touch release features make it easy to handle the plates even if they are still warm. Additional plates include 2 waffle plates to upgrade your breakfast menu. Floating hinge to accommodate thicker cuts. Comes with a limited 3 years warranty.

And seriously, it (still) doesn’t come with an on / off button yet. This is what I think something George Foreman could really work on. The timer only indicates that the cooking time is up, but it does not cut the power. Kind of defeats the purpose of a timer there. So, do not ignore that “ding”.

Specifications At A Glance

  • The Product Dimensions: 11 x 16.2 x 14.1 inches. The cooking area measures 77 square inches. Recommended for 2 servings.
  • The Product Weight: 17 pounds
  • The Grill Temperature: Burst Sear at 500F. Normal temperature ranges from 325F to 450F.
  • Wattage: 1,440 Watts
  • Cord Length: 2 Feet

Premium Grill #2: George Foreman GBR5750SRDQ Grill & Broil 7-in-1 Electric Indoor Grill

This next George Foreman premium grill that we are going introduce comes with more cooking options – a whopping 7 functions. Laying it out, it has the grill, broil, griddle, bake, panini, top melt, and wafer maker.

The cooking area is ample for up to 2 persons worth of food at 75 square inches. So, dinner is settled. Also equipped with ceramic grill plates, the plates are non-stick and easier to clean. Butter is optional but I highly recommend putting it anyway for that extra flavor.

Cooking temperature varies from 350F to 425F and can be controlled with a knob at the top of the grill. There is no burst sear function and in place of it is a broil function push button. There are 2 settings – the low broil and the high broil. Note, you need to remove the top plate before using the broil feature.

Adjustable 2.5-inch hinge here to accommodate even thicker cuts of meat. On / off switch is finally included here at the right side of the grill.

Specifications At A Glance

  • The Product Dimensions: 15.8 x 15.3 x 6.1 inches. The cooking area measures 72 square inches. Recommended for 2 servings.
  • The Product Weight: 19.3 pounds
  • The Grill Temperature: Temperature ranges from 350F to 425F.
  • Wattage: 1,200 Watts
  • Cord Length: 2 Feet

Indoor / Outdoor Grills

The George Foreman Indoor / Outdoor category is primarily made for outdoor use with an external, removable stand and larger than its usual grill. You can still use it for indoor purposes, so not to worry on that. Here, we will look at the two grills that you can consider.

Outdoor Grill #1: George Foreman GFO201R 12-Serving Indoor/Outdoor Rectangular Electric Grill

Fancy a BBQ party? This GF grill with a 200 square inches of cooking area offers the largest grilling area we have seen so far. While it touts that it can serve up to 12 servings, we find that it, realistically, can accommodate up to 5 servings with relative ease. That is after cutting away marketing talk.

5 is enough for a medium sized tailgate party. If you are looking at more than that, like 10, then it might be better to get 2 of this, or even consider a charcoal grill or gas grill. With the higher price tag, comes better features.

The temperature knob at the side offers up to 5 settings to cater to any recipes that you might have in your notebook. The range of the temperature is 250F to 500F for that sear. The non-stick coated plates are here to stay. Be aware though – these are not the ceramic plates, although a ceramic option is offered for a couple bucks more.

Drip tray, a sloped design that makes a George Foreman a George Foreman is included, without questions. If you need more vertical with the grill, a removable stand is included to make that happen. The stand is about 2 feet tall.

Specifications At A Glance

  • The Product Dimensions: 9.1 x 24 x 12.1 inches with the lid. The cooking area measures 200 square inches. Recommended for 4 – 5 servings.
  • The Product Weight: 16.5 pounds
  • The Grill Temperature: Temperature ranges from 250F to 500F.
  • Wattage: Not Stated but Estimated At Around 1800 watts.
  • Cord Length: 6 Feet

Outdoor Grill #2: George Foreman GGR50B 15-Serving Indoor/Outdoor Electric Grill

This grill comes with all the features the GFO201R has to offer and have a larger grill area to boot. With a grilling area of 240 square inches, this grill offers grilling estate for up to 5 – 6 people worth of food at any one point in time.

It also comes with a temperature control knob with 5 settings, a sloped surface, and a drip tray to catch all that grease and oil for easier cleaning. If need to be, the 3 feet removable stand can be ditch elsewhere and instantaneously transform it to a countertop for indoor grilling. The grill plates are coated with non-stick and as far as we can see, there is no option to convert it to ceramic.

We suggest that you get this if you need some more grilling space as compared to the previous model but do not wish to dish out as much cash for a gas grill. However, the grill might not be as hot as the previous model due to its lower power rating at 1600W and relatively larger grill area. But it is still plenty hot to sear steaks as it can reach a temperature of 500F.

Oh, did I mention? This model is cheaper.

Specifications At A Glance

  • The Product Dimensions: 22.2 x 20.5 x 13 inches with the lid. The lid itself is 6 inches. The cooking area measures 240 square inches. Recommended for 4 – 5 servings.
  • The Product Weight: 21 pounds
  • The Grill Temperature: Temperature ranges from 250F to 500F.
  • Wattage: 1600 watts
  • Cord Length: 6.5 Feet
